You are among the first generation of care providers charged with the task of supporting the health and functional mobility of people with significant disabilities who have potential for long lives. Practice and research based experience clearly shows that as people age with disability, their skin becomes less tolerant of the forces of support and their postural control and functional mobility deteriorate -– even in the absence of a progressive diagnosis.
