Ride Designs® Custom Cushions : Design Technology

Conventional custom contoured cushions...
Imagine sitting in a container of wet concrete. Once dry, the concrete reflects your shape in that posture at that specific moment in time. If you move, or even slightly change your position in the contours, the seat is unforgiving and pressure and shear result. Additionally, weight loss and muscle atrophy cannot be accommodated. This is how conventional contoured seats function, and explains why they are not appropriate for users at-risk for skin breakdown.
Conventional custom contoured cushions are often bulky, heavy and hot and cannot be adjusted to meet the changing needs of the user.

A fresh approach to custom contour cushions...
Ride Designs provides an alternative that virtually eliminates the limitations of conventional custom contoured cushions. Our patent-pending process of simulation accurately captures shapes and recognizes the normal movement of sitting bones that occurs during everyday activities.

The contours of the Ride Custom Cushion help protect bony prominences at rest and during movement, and are tolerant of subtle position change. The Ride CAM is employed to adjust the contours in response to weight change or muscle atrophy.

The Ride Custom Cushion is made from Brock™, a composite foam technology that is so porous that water pours right through it, transporting moisture away from the skin. Similarly, air moves easily through the material for improved thermoregulation, keeping body temperature consistent and comfortable. Brock is a fraction of the weight of conventional cushion materials.
