Protect Skin
Ride Designs’ unique method of cushion molding
results in complete off-loading of ischial tuberosities,
coccyx and sacrum, and decreased pressure at the
greater trochanters, making it the only custom
cushion appropriate for people at highest risk for
skin breakdown.
Other custom cushions load bony prominences thereby
increasing risk for skin breakdown.
Promote mobility without compromising skin integrity
Ride Custom Cushion contours prevent bony
prominences from experiencing pressure and shear
even during active movement.
Movement results in increased shear and pressure as
bony prominences change their relationship to the
contours of a total contact cushion.
Tolerate reasonable variance in seated position
Ride Custom Cushion contours are tolerant of subtle
variances in seated position.
Even subtle positioning variance may result in
increased loading of bony prominences as well as loss
of support in other areas.
Adjust to accommodate change over time
The Ride CAM can be used to adjust the cushion
contours to accommodate weight change, tissue
atrophy, and postural change. No need for carving
or accessories.
No integrated mechanism to accommodate or adjust in
response to change over time. Even slight changes in
weight, tissue atrophy, or postural change may result
in the need for a new cushion.
Reduce heat and moisture build-up
The Ride Custom Cushion is made with patented Brock
composite material that allows air to circulate, helping
to keep skin dry and at the right temperature in all
environments.
Total contact cushions utilizing traditional foam
materials tend to be hot and retain moisture at the
sitting surface, resulting in elevated risk for skin
breakdown.
Lightweight
About three pounds for a 16 x 16 cushion, making it a
fraction of the weight of other cushions.
Traditional foam materials tend to be heavy
and bulky.
Optimize function and mobility, and reduce risk of overuse syndromes and chronic pain
People’s shapes can be captured in the Ride Custom
Cushion Simulator on their wheelchairs. The Ride
Designs’ manufacturing process then maintains the
orientation of the person to their wheelchair and
other postural supports. This results in a near perfect
cushion fit.
Other custom cushions require the use of a seating
simulator that requires capturing people’s shapes out
of their wheelchair making it virtually impossible to
ensure optimal function and mobility.
A cinch to clean
A simple wash, rinse, and dry process keeps the Ride
Custom Cushion and cover fresh and clean.
Traditional custom cushion materials and covers are
difficult, if not nearly impossible, to clean and sanitize.
Easy shape capturing process
The Ride Custom Cushion Simulator is lightweight,
requires no electric power, and can be used virtually
anywhere. No plaster or chemicals.
Other custom cushion simulators are heavy and
cumbersome. Many require electrical power and/or
the use of plaster or chemicals.
