Ride Designs trains
and certifies all
providers of Ride
Custom Cushions. Here
is a brief outline of the
process of capturing a
person’s shape.
1. The Ride Simulator is
positioned on a wheelchair
and a person’s unique shape
is captured.
2. The Simulator with captured shape is sent to Ride Designs for
cushion fabrication. The impression is then cast and enhanced to
create a mold for the Ride Custom Cushion.
The Ride Simulator consists of low-density impression foam,
ideal for capturing the user’s unique shape, accurately and
dynamically. The Ride Simulator is secured in a wheelchair
or on any flat surface and the skills of the Certified Ride
Designs provider are utilized to slowly and carefully immerse
the person into the impression foam material. By capturing
a shape in their wheelchair, we are able to maintain each
user’s distinct relationship to their cushion and wheelchair and
they can actually experience what their new cushion will feel
like upon delivery. This is unique to Ride Designs and ensures
that the outcomes achieved on the Simulator are matched by
those experienced on the delivered cushion. The process is
quick, easy, and clean. There’s no need for plaster, chemicals,
or expensive electronic scanning equipment associated with
traditional custom contoured seating simulators.
